It’s the most wonderful time of the year with kids loving Christmas. However, those sweet and sticky goodies aren’t the best for kids. According to you pediatrician in Knoxville, some foods are best left on the buffet table.
Hard Candy and Candy Canes
Loaded with sugar, which is bad for teeth and bad for kids that have problems with weight, candy canes, butterscotch, ribbons, and all of those other hard candies can also trigger blood sugar levels.
Starchy Foods
Sugary cookies, cakes, and breads are full of starch. Starchy foods cause weight gain and can get caught between teeth. If teeth are not brushed right away, that starch converts to acid and bacteria eating away at the enamel on the teeth.
This holiday season enjoy everything that goes along with it, but be sure you watch what goes in your mouth and in the mouths of your family.
Happy Holidays from everyone at Powell Pediatrics.
