Healthy Eating Habits for Kids

Unfortunately, it’s not always possible to watch what your kids eat. You can’t be with them 24/7. With that being said, there are some things you can do to make sure they are getting the proper nutrition.

Start the Day Right

Making a good breakfast before the kids start their day is essential. Gather round the breakfast table and make it a daily ritual. After all, breakfast really is the most important meal of the day.

Pack a Healthy Lunch

Unfortunately, schools don’t always supply the most nutritious lunches. Instead of playing Russian roulette with the school cafeteria, make lunches for your kids. A healthy sandwich, some fruit, and veggies will stave off hunger until they get home from school.

Healthy Snacks

Keep the pantry stocked with healthy snacks. Skip the chips and make sure to cut up fresh veggies such as carrots and celery. Have fresh fruit on hand and keep the soda and energy drinks to a minimum.

If your kids are having problems with obesity, schedule an appointment with Powell Pediatrics. It really is the only way to tell if the problem is medical or caused by poor eating habits.  Call for an appointment today.
